If you are going to try and debate someone, lets avoid the ad hominem attack of calling their post something from "Republican Talking Points." First off, OPB said nothing about money when referring to being elitist. He was referring to certain politicians considering themselves intellectually superior, hence elitist. It speaks nothing to money or wealth.

Second, I don't think OPB was specifically referring to Reagan as the tough Cold War opponent. I think he was more referring to the U.S. here. Besides, Reagan's successful efforts in ending the Cold War was recognizing the fact that the Soviet economy could not survive another arms race. And who said anything about his religion. Third - MTBE was put into fuel in low levels to replace lead, but in 1992 CA required much higher levels be used to meet Clean Air Act provisions. This is what OPB is referring to - not the low levels used to replace tetra-ethyl lead. Fourth - OPB's rant about environmentalism specifically refers to how it is become a tool to push a social agenda rather than protect the environment - hence why Muir would be turning in his grave. Global Warming is only one example where this is the case.

So, to end my rant here, if you are going to debate and use, as you put it, the facts, lets do so. But make sure they are really facts, rather than items gleaned from mainstream media sources (whose bias is only exceeded by their pocketbooks).
