Oh my! My cheeky rant seems to have pinched a nerve. Sorry if I ruffled your emperor's new cloths. But really, Mr Just the Facts - "political rant"? I made absolutely no partisan references whatsoever. You read them in on your own, and actually made many such references yourself. In fact, I wouldn't know a partisan "Talking Point" if I ate it, as I make it a point to avoid partisan politics like I would avoid a barium enema. I am happy though, to debate principles, ideals and values - but leave partisan bigotries out of it.

You may have a small point though, since my description, for the sake of complete clarity, did cover the entire continuum of intellectual elitism. And I guess that since writers such as George Orwell long ago noticed this elitism, I should have realized some might focus on the political end of that continuum.

"Republican talking points" - really? Such could not even possibly exist, as their opinions are way too diverse. They hardly ever agree on anything with each other. That is why they failed to properly govern against an apparently "one opinion fits all" elitist opposition. (remember, you identified which are the elitists - I specifically did not)

I guess it is what it is. But you missed my point entirely, I was ranting specifically against such elitism on this forum. It serves no righteous purpose. And if that elitism is political in nature - so be it. It was found on this forum and so must be refuted on this forum. You have a right to your opinions, but should not expect anyone to share them unless you first persuade with honest debate - not dis-information, ridicule, or dismissive rhetoric.

Moreover, the consequence of caving in silence to these elitists is getting severe and extreme. Such threatens the very survival our favorite industry. Of course, it is not the only threat to the industry; and at the risk of becoming political again - I do realize that railroads are hardly the only thing at risk. Too bad it seems none of you elitist politicians are listening, but would rather just arrogantly dismiss the concerns and values of a huge chuck of the population.

And since your own dismissive rhetoric proves my point, I rest my case.
