The First Amendment of the US Constitution does not guarantee that you have the right to state something that is false or untrue.

The intention of the bill is to stop people from posting FALSE information. There is nothing wrong with that intention and that intention is no way in violation of the first amendment.

How the bill is actually worded, implemented and enforced however does matter. And in this case it seems it needs a lot more work.

Personally, I do not see from any practical point that this bill can go forward for one simple reason: Who what where when and why is true fact going to be distinguished from un-true?

Think about it: How many news stories could be judged in violation of this bill if there is one even tiny piece of information in the story that is not true.

For example, a major train derailment happens killing 100 people. The news reporter say the train conductor at the controls was unable to stop in time. Hey, that story is now in violation of the bill since the train conductor was NOT at the controls of the train, the engineer was.
