I had fully expected that EVIL THOMAS had, like Simon Legree, tied this poor soul to the tracks, anther heinous act of the VAST EVIL CONSPIRACY, but alas, after they put those nets up on the bridges, and we started culling those not "fit" enough breed do to overreliance on the use of earbuds, EVIL SMART is the obvious culprit.... Bad insensitive Bob....
SMART has unfortunately begun to "bag" and "tag" it's share of the misfortunate and the stupid, like the Capitols and Caltrain have experienced, quite a bit of late. Todaythe US, this being a holiday weekend and all, auto accidents, pedestrian accidents, and bike accidents will kill a hundred or so. Some of these will be this week even in the Bay area, and most of those won't even generate a news story, at all.
So life is hard, and people find stupid ways to die, in this case, ways that inconvenience and cause pain to others who have to deal with it. It's a shame and a sad commentary on the state of our society in the case of the desperate and the mentally ill, but it's all Darwin when it's just plain old fashioned culling the stupid.
Oh bad Bob, they have families, too..... Yes, and I feel sad for their very personal loss, just slightly less so for our species.... But, I confess, that I feel at least as bad (or worse?) for the crew, passengers, and responders, who had to deal with it.
And how, is this, in any way, a "SMART fatality"? What, if any, kind of a failure on the part of SMART, caused this?
Our mental health services do pretty much suck in America, and there is a "virtual" army of dumb$#its wearing earbuds and staring at screens, trespassing on RR tracks, walking out into oncoming traffic, tripping fifteen people on the escalator at Union Station, just like this pathetic moron was. And, that is SMART's fault, how?
