Thanks for the reference. I can't call it an update... exactly, but good stuff.

My very back of the envelope calculation is just about timing. If the train stops in Bakersfield, as has now been agreed, that is one end point. The other is Burbank.

The present plans give travel time Bakersfield to Palmdale of 20 to 25 minutes and Palmdale to Burbank of 15 to 20 minutes. The total is then 35 to 45 minutes.

Bakersfield to Burbank is 92 miles as the crow flies. Assume an average speed of 184 mph (I like easy math). Then the travel time From Bakersfield to Burbank would be 30 minutes. The difference is then 5 to 15 minutes longer via Palmdale.

Yeah. Yeah. I did say it was back of the envelope.
