Mouse will remain fixated on his fixations.

That aside. the prospects for Pacheco are getting lower every minute. The continued pissing away of taxpayer monies on useless work like this, or having the PR folks out promoting their new version of the High Speed Blues on CNBC, and some of the noise from Feinstein, seems to be more like "hail Mary" passes, designed more to keep the pressure on Newsom, to continue to allow taxpayer monies to be wasted on Pacheco, or else we'll have no "real" HSR..... Whaaaaaaa!

Support for this fiasco in the Bay Area is also an increasing problem for the "damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead" faction who are still clinging bravely to the teets of the CAHSRA "gravy train" with all the strength they can muster.

Term limited State and local politicians, hearing from angry constituents, stuck in gridlock, and Silicon Valley firms wanting to connect workers with affordable housing, owe no particular allegiance to the rapidly aging crew of political actors still pushing the dubious "vision" of the "runaway money train".

And, while I know that all of the usual trolls will all squeal loudly in their pens, and will have tantrums, wildly throwing their feces about their cages in rage, for me saying this....that also includes Newsom.

Altamont/Dumbarton (with or without a new long tunnel, and with a new bridge or tunnel) is a perfect route for commute and IC/HSR access from the Valley, and across to the Peninsula, that actually does something "real" (at a far lower cost) to address actual transportation "needs" and the observed impacts of existing congestion, on several hundreds of thousands of real Bay Area commuters, who are also voters and taxpayers, who are stuck in "real" traffic today. And that alternative helps their employers, by improving access to affordable housing, which Pacheco does not.

Clem, what I liked was the profile that showed the "roller coaster" ride in the long tunnel, where you have these unexplained significant changes in gradient. And, at around $500 million per mile, for a pair of double bored tunnels, the long tunnel alone would come in at around $6.5 billion.
