One other thing that was amusing in the article was Hasan complaining about San Diego's isolation. That was deliberate. The Proposition was intended only for SF-LA (approximately) as a "starter line." San Diego was maybe someday as far as HSR was concerned, and there was never any intent or authorization to spend HSR money on LOSSAN other than between wherever the Tehachapi crossing comes out and Anaheim. Improving LOSSAN elsewhere is somewhere between necessary and absolutely necessary, but some other funding source is needed to accomplish it.
