They were very clear from the outset the reason they inserted hard tech requirements, like 2:40, was to prelude the inevitable dumbdown that is so PB-Bechtel. Promise them Buck Rogers and give them Robert Moses. BART.

Of course they were in politician neverland - they added on a huge gerrymandered detour thru Pacheco, the 99 corridor, and, the piece de resistance, a meandering southern crossing traipsing after the antediluvian Loop freight line. Never mind that is far away from the default surface route that the rest of civilized humanity uses between SF and LA.

I do not know what they were smoking - unfortunately it was not a little too much fentanyl.
