Having seen both of these lines and the deteriorated condition that they are in, it is obvious that the AERC will not be an operating rail line for long without an infusion of funds. My guess is that a large portion of these funds will most likely come from the Connect Oregon program. Few shortlines can survive without some sort of help with funding. The POTB is a line that our state can ill afford to lose.
