Let me explain the facts at AERC compaired to POTB. In 2006, before the lumber slump, AERC handled over 5,000 loads between Albany and Bauman, a distance of approximately 17 miles. There are no major bridges and 11+ miles is 113# rail. In this mileage are seven good customers that provide most of the revenue. Freres Plywood also shipped plywood, but it was on the end of an expensive branch with many bridges. The mill at Sweet Home shipped some product. I would have filed to discintue service on the Mill City branch beyond Lebanon, but politics said NO. POTB had good shippers, but an even more expensive line to maintain.
