There are 3.5 million people in the area served by the initial segment. They, like people in other places, have many reasons to travel and they actually do. Fresno alone is larger than the largest city in a majority of the states, really. By some peoples reasoning most of America is nowhere.

At both ends of the track there are connections. In the south you have the existing bus connections to all over the Southland and Las Vegas too. In the north you have cross platform transfers to Ace and the San Joaquin services. Buses too.

But these connections don't exist you say. Of course not. There aren't any high speed trains either... Yet.
