That’s a fifteen meter nose, on a 200 mph E5 series, with a legitimate aerodynamic purpose: to avoid tunnel boom, where a blunt object quickly entering a tunnel will trigger a pressure wave that booms out the other end, to much neighbor consternation. This long nose reduces boom.

California has not yet had this particular problem, because our trains are so damn slow.
