In response to Curtis Belle, No I am not involved in the photo shoots. My reasons for withdrawing my support are mentioned in my previous "What's going on at The Nevada Northern?"
post (false and misleading advertising, inappropriate use of my name included)
I would gladly resume my involvement under different circumstances, namely an executive director
that RESPECTS the client/shoot participants. Real honest and simple: Deliver what is advertised. If you are at all skeptical? Don't do the shoot.
I don't know much about the Alco situation, other than 109 is running and 105 isn't.
As for your quote, "innovative and cost-saving skills for repairing and fabricating parts and materials," I'm not sure what yoiu're asking. I know that the NNRY had a very knowledgeable
staff that was adept in numerous areas/skills. Wasn't much they couldn't do in terms of any type of repair/rebuild whether it was a steam/diesel locomotive, passenger/freight car etc...
They were a BIG loss, no matter what ones' opinion of them is. By "they" I mean: Jason, Jeremy,
Jerrod, Chris, Greg, Natasha, Marty. A lot of SKILLS lost when they moved on or were fired.
Nothing even resembling this level of skill and craft at the NNRY these days.
Don't know much about the power plants other than they've been on the discussion table since 1984 or earlier. Depends on who one talks to. Personally, I'm skeptical, as one of the companies (I believe Sierra Pacific) has already backed out. So, no progress on track rebuild.
