I believe the "innovative and cost-saving skills for repairing and fabricating parts and materials" you are referring to was for example, I built new diaphragms for the current passenger cars instead of ordering them. I believe the quote Marty and I got for new diaphragms was around $1200 for each piece or $2400 a set. We ordered the raw materials and glued and stitched them up our selves. I headed up the woodwork with Joel and others on the Outfit 06 , all done in house with the help of the Sean Pitts State of Nevada owned East Ely depot. All the machine work was done in house by Marty and Chris. These are just a few of the examples.
Come to think of it, I was the only one there who did woodwork on the wood cars. I saved the baggage car from a very near truck failure with a quick temporary repair. The passenger car windows received some very needed TLC. Does any one know if there has been any follow up on these projects?
