Probably so but not on the same scale. The problem with LATC is that there are residential neighborhoods nearby where the thieves can quickly retreat to when the cops show up. Hobart Yard doesn't really have residential neighborhoods all that close to it. For UP trains coming up from the harbor and headed east on the Alhambra Sub, they have to slow to a crawl to negotiate sharp curves at 9th St. Jct. and Pasadena Jct. near the L.A. River. BNSF trains aren't really subjected to something comparable to that.

Another thing that BNSF has in its favor is the staging area between Prado Dam and Esperanza. There's limited access due to steep cliffs on the north and the Santa Ana River on the south.
