Continuing this thread, AC's were used on the Western Division until the end of November, '56.
The Los Altos Branch had Lima 2-8-2 3251 on the afternoon freight at least into September and trains 129/132 used Lima 4-6-2's 2476 and 2477 to around the same time. Some 2-10-2's like 3670 and 3690 were active out of Tracy then too, but I'll add the proviso that steam was not limited to just these two. There was a Ten-Wheeler that lasted into December on a branch and for the life of me, I cannot locate my notes. If anyone is ever interested in SP steam loco assignments at this late date, I have SP booklets that show what engine was used on what Division and am happy to share same.
