Remember Jack Welch nearly destroyed General Electric. His proteges continued his business style of outsourcing ,layoffs and MBA's making business decisions over the objections of engineers. One Welch protege became CEO of Boeing around the time the 777 was experiencing failures. The railroads want high short term profits over long steady lower return profits. A MBA probably came up with the term credited to Hunter Harrison "Precision Scheduled Railroading."
