Yeah, I saw people do that - jump off the train on the 7th Street Curve (next to the 7th Street engine house). You could only jump off the train on the Harriman cars because they had the open doors. You can't do that on the galleries. I once saw a couple of people jump off the train at the 7th Street curve like yourself, and just about get nailed by a light locomotive movement on the adjacent track. It was really close.
