The Muni double end carss are PCC technology. Double end end cars are a MU car without couplers as each end had a master controller (foot pedals) that controls the propulsion syatem via electric trainwires to the limit relay. Standard PCC (single end) have a direct mechanical connection from the foot pedals to the limit relay that is controlling the propulsion syatem of the car.

The Phila Suburban St. Louis built double end cars were not PCC technology, even tought the body was like the "Car Company's version of the PCC.
