I am sure that you are correct about the sign. Does anyone remember that S.P. removed the sign in 1959 or 1960? At the time, all railfans said that the removal was an evil omen. It certainly was, because that is when the S.P. stopped being friendly to the public.

Let's not forget the nearby competing sign on Mission Street. It was a large "WP." It alternately flashed, "FEATHER RIVER ROUTE" with the "WP." Can't remember if it alternately flashed "WESTERN PACIFIC." They certainly were wonderful works of neon art. Bert
