In the rest of the world....many short sleeper routes in the east. New York-Washington sleeper operated during Amtrak, also was a staple nearly through the end of the PC. New York to Baltimore sleepers possibly to the immediate post WWII era. New York-Boston on the NH. In the "20S" I believe PRR ran a NY to Harrisburg sleeper. Over on the B&O similar short sleeper routes operated on the Royal Blue Route. The Reading Railroad provided sleepers (including two owned by them after WWII)for Philadelphia to upstate New York destinations. Pittsburgh to Philadelphia and Atlantic City sleepers existed through the late fifties on the PRR. New York to Albany and Albany-Montreal sleepers on the Central.
Illinois Terminal interurban sleeper routes were also generally 200 miles or less. Was there a Seattle-Portland sleeper? Oakland to Reno sleepers on the SP prior to WWII. Oakland to Lake Tahoe before the war also. Personally I think the originator also may have been referring to the San Rafael-Eureka sleeper on the NWP?
