1953 Official Guide shows three sleepers Portland-Seattle and one Portland-Tacoma on 401 and 402.
Departures at 1145 from Portland and Seattle, and at 115 from Tacoma. Arrivals at Portland and Seattle at 645, and at 500 at Tacoma. No mention of boarding and sleep-in times in this short-form schedule. Mileages 142 and 182. Certainly not the shortest.

These particular trains made 15 additional stops; gently, we presume.

There were three day trains operated by the three companies

In 1909, there were three trains operated by the three companies, but all making nearly all stops.

===============================================================================================

Pacific Great Eastern used interurban cars, including sleepers. Heritage?

Baggage/express car was a Pennsy boxcar that hadn't been home for years.
