Two locals Denver to Trinidad, singles Trinidad to Texline, two Texline to Cowtown, singles Cowtown to Houston.
Between Walsenburg and Trinidad, nearly every town had a spur to a coal mine.
Southwest of Trinidad, Santa Fe served several coal mines.
Between locomotives facing hills three ways out of town, and cattle and horses, the town was "well known".
I've walked the C&S track around the downtown curve; it must have been a real squealer.
The Trinidad bypass waited for local business to "dry up".

And the Santa Fe divided town frequently before the opening of the line thru Clovis.
Where were the coal/oil dividing lines on the Santa Fe?
