Actually, the newspaper and TV reports I saw here in the Bay Area were pretty much right on, first reporting Sen. McCain's assertions and then largely disproving them with info about the real scope of the flood control project. Even the most cynical assertions about 12 NV Wine Train jobs being saved were only part of that story; the train must generate a lot of tourist-related income to the area (probably not enough to justify such a grant in and of itself, but still ... ).
