I live in North Beach and my biggest objection is the 7 extra blocks past the Chinatown station so the tunnel comes out at Washington Square. Plates will remain in the street permanently so in the future the tunnel can be accessed for continuation. This extension is costing $80M more. The latest revelations are that the subway cars are already obsolete plus there WILL BE NO ESCALATORS at the Union Square Station and passengers will have to walk down the 400 feet to transfer.
