Ah yes, the Enumclaw local. That's the job I rode on her, only it must have been right at the end of steam. I would have been about 6 or 7, and will never forget the view from the fireman's seat, looking down, while crossing the Buckley Bridge!
As most of you know, steam engines of the same class, varied greatly in their "personalities". Some were rough riding, hard to fire, smoother running at higher speeds, etc. Of the engines running on the Tacoma Division, Dad always talked about the 1372 and 1381 as the best of the S-4's out here.
I have shots of 1381 from the caboose, crossing the Buckley Bridge and on the Buckley loop.
