I think that we as railfans are our own worst enemies at times. I can not tell you how many times I have seen railfans at trackside wearing shorts and tennis shoes, sandals or even flip flops. Just think about what rails are thinking when they see us dressed like this. I've even seen railfans post photos of themsleves in this attire at trackside. Do we ever wonder why railroads require employees to wear boots and long pants. I think the word is called safety. We are in the exact same enviornment as rails and then some of dress like we're going to the beach. Hopefully more railfans might think before they leave the house to go railfanning. This is not meant to be a putdown, but to give thought to improve the general railfan image.
