I volunteered at a museum for a number of years and the time a guy came in dressed in a nice summer dress, pumps and a modest purse; was without question the laugh of the decade.

Airplane spotters seem to dress better though. At the popular Frankfurt Airport (Germany) viewing area off of the A5 near the old Rhein Main Air Base, the style statement is how many cameras you have and who has the biggest lense. (size matters!)
