OPB, I'm currently working there at the CSRM. I have to say that the politics surrounding the institution is astounding, and it has to be. Look at it this way, the State Capitol is where? Sacramento. And where is the CSRM? Same place. This being said, I understand Drew's concerns, I feel the same way, but at least donate some time to your local railroad museum. I chose the CSRM for it's location relative to mine, Davis. Another political town. But politics is not the reason I chose to work at CSRM. I did it because I love trains, there's a large pool of volunteers with years of experience where I can siphon off and use later on as an employee of a railroad. The CSRM is a great place to visit. Yes, the process to restore the ATSF equipment is slow. We do have a need for experienced volunteers. People who have done it all, seen it all. For more information, go to the website, go down to Volunteers, email Theresa Gonsolis for the next docent training class.
Cheers,
S. J. Hjellum
