What WAF said about the re-paint back to SP Colors for the 3197 is correct as I have a Super8 Sound Movie that I took of it in Sept. 1983 pulling a morning Westbound Commute train past the road crossing near the Hotel in Millbrae at track speed. Plus they were using the 2 digit train numbers at that time as well. On a side note, I always used to enjoy hearing "SP Train #52" calling 4th St. Tower on the radio for a radio check in the early 1990s. Since SP operated the service for the state until Amtrak took over July 1, 1992, many of the crews who were SP employees still identified themselves as SP. So, after hearing that one day, I jokingly said to "16th St. Mike", "The SP San Joaquin Daylight is still alive and well, but in the wrong place in San Fransisco!"
