I am from Utah and visit Sandpoint every year right after labor day when the kids have gone back to school.
I stay at the S 8 Good enough and reasonable. My wife and I pay I think it was $47 this year ,,being retired we try and stay at modest motels.
And use motels with microwaves we also have a cooler as we sit trackside daytimes..A few good spots heading South from Bonners Ferry and the Ponderille bridge, then the Station etc...We usually drive the Washington side of the Columbia coming in from Pasco area.lots of great spots to video there and stay at "The Dalles " on the Oregon side..Riverview motel there is only $40....
I worked for the Boston & Maine in New Hampshire in the fifties as telegrapher Towerman.Still enjoy trains..
