Crappy handling of any Amtrak train by UP or any freight railroad is nothing new and probably has little effect on ridership. I don't think UP dispatchers the last couple years are to blame for the demise of a train that has run since the days of steam. Actually, Amtrak and the State of California have come down hard on UP's handling of Amtrak trains and on time performance of ALL Amtrak trains in CA is at an all time high.
