Under SOPA, a studio could say that you are mocking their Mafia movie, and therefor are threatening their profits, and issue a take-down order for Altamont Press. It's pretty much a blunt object which big companies can use to stifle free speech that they disagree with. At least that's my understanding of it. Those who are pushing this are claiming music piracy is rampant, but ever since Itunes came along, such piracy still happens, but is almost a non existent issue. One of the bill's supporters, Monster cable, is trying to take-down craigslist for selling used cables, and thereby hurting the sales of new cables. Sure we can pass SOPA to fight piracy, but at what costs to our fundamental freedoms? After all, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Congress will say-"But we're only trying to help!" Uh huh. Sure. Right, I believe my congressman has my best interests at heart-wait, look, over there! It’s a flying pig!!!
