The Kettle Falls International Railway's Waneta turn job derailed the rear fourteen cars of their train Monday afternoon on their way back from Canada. The incident occurred between Mileposts 122 and 123 on the Kettle Falls Sub. It was very close to the infamous locomotive rollover incident of a couple of years ago when the ground gave way beneath the tracks. No cause of this derailment as of yet, but the ground didn't give way this time. Because of the severity of the derailment and the remoteness of the location, it is expected to take several days before service is resumed on this part of the railroad. The rest of the railroad is still operating as normal.
