I was up there once several years ago. The BN line high above Nelson was still intact, but long unused. I believe that part of the line by the border on the Canadian side had already been salvaged. Maybe they delayed salvage out of the Troup Jct in case some traffic developed that CP might have been able to access. I was not real familiar with the area, so don't hold me to having it figured out exactly.
