in the early 80s, my mom would put myself, age 10, and my brother, age 8, on the amtrak in seattle, and my dad would receive us in eugene.
this isnt just a post-9/11-world thing...our country has long been going the way of excessive regulation and bureaucratization...of course this partly due to the litigious nature of our society. freedom is a loaded word, and most people who throw it around are hard pressed to define it. but in some ways mexico is a more free country than the US. learn the language and go there, you will see what i mean.
