Good advise from a childless bachelor – Now that is really rich!
Nobody exploited you! - even if you had any credibility that we could believe all your wantabee bravado, about the women in your life. So after you thank her, and leave her for some other fish in the sea, should we also suppose that she is all of a suddenly happier and less lonely. Most likely, she’s all alone again and realizing she’s even lonelier than before – and wondering if all men are as just as irresponsible and exploitive. Many women have became hateful towards men in general, after a few experiences like that – and that does nobody any good, especially to some poor sap that comes along afterwards and actually tries to stick with her and keep her happy. It'll be just that much harder and perhaps impossible --- and so the beat goes on!
Actually, it is a good thing that dudes like you don’t want kids, so long as they don’t accidently make any (happens all the time - even with precautions). Children need men that man-up to their responsibilities and take care of them. So what’s not so good; is that those dudes tend to leave a trail of broken homes, systemic poverty, fatherless children, single moms to raise them alone – an overwhelmingly difficult task, and all manner of social pathologies.
So if we can believe anything we read on the internet, you agree with me “that this society is headed to hell in a hand basket”? Well then there’s reason to hope. But did you ever stop to wonder why our society is in such trouble? Just where did we step on that banana peel, anyhow? --- See the above for just one reason, as to why and how?
You say “Give me the 1950s Leave It To Beaver America any day”. But you claim a time machine needs to be invented, and you’ll “be on the inaugural "flight"! Well, a time machine will NOT help! --- What we continue to DO is what we will continue to GET! Time machine or not - NO exceptions!
So, If you really do want it – then just do it!
As to the Olympian Hiawatha running over the MILW Road Western Extension; give me the CZ, with all those domes. And bring back the WP and the SN; or for that matter, railroads that are RAILROADS ! But with or without a “time machine” - I guess that before we can expect any good stuff to ever happen in our society, or in railroading; we will just have to bring back, men that are MEN!
So, now that I can hopefully get off my Idealist Soapbox, maybe we could figure out just what factors contributed to the demise of railroads as we knew them. Just how did that happen, anyway. Perhaps knowledge is power, and something could then be done to. . . . . . . . . .
