And some more services Amtrak won't provide.

Amtrak could make a virtue out of a supposed liability, and market a safe mode of transport for unaccompanied minors. Even charge extra for the service, but that would actually require some imagination. It is much more desirable for Amtrak to pander to the business traveler.
What else does Amtrak refuse to do, even though ostensibly it exists to serve the public?
1. Ship pets
2. Ship human remains.
3. Allow checked baggage from places like Kingman, Arizona.
4. Stop at towns like Sterling, Colorado, and instead sail right thru.
I am sure I could continue this list, but I grow weary. BTW, I could have used items 1, 3, and 4 in the last year, if they were available.

P.S. How long will it be before the airlines start refusing to allow unaccompanied minors? If Allegiant can get away with charging for carry-on, why not?
