Sacramento Northern electrification extended to "Birds Landing Road" by line crews of the Western Railway Museum at Rio Vista Junction, CA.
Press Release:
On Saturday, June 30, we will officially open the next segment of our historic Sacramento Northern main line to operation. The Birds Landing Road segment adds 1.1 miles of operable track south of our current end-of-wire, just south of Shiloh Road. Special thanks to the Track and Overhead Lines and Substations volunteers for their incredible work to make this project a reality.
Join us for a day of extended operation and celebration as we turn “rare mileage” into “regular mileage!” Interurban trains will run at our regularly scheduled times of 11am, 12:30pm, 2pm and 3:30pm to our new boarding platform overlooking the Suisun Marsh. There will be an opportunity to visit Shirley’s Bar in Birds Landing, for those who can make the ˝-mile walk.

This is great news as they are now only about 1/2-mile from the old SN station site of MOLENA, which still boasts a passing siding and a few remnants of old power poles.
