I'm working on bringing the 2013 NPRHA Convention to Billings, MT next July.
We've experienced the same issues with venues. After the economy tanked big
changes came to the hotel industry. Instead of booking enough rooms to pay
for the conference room space we're going to have to order a ton of food
AND beverage to make this work.
At some point you knew something would change at the IWI after all the
money they've put into the F45 and other improvements. However, it's
still very sad and painful to be a customer for over 30 years and
receive the heavy stick treatment in a bad order kind of way.
Since October is the shoulder season for travel in Montana you'd think
the owner would cut in a little slack. Altamont is guaranteed revenue. But
it sounds like the marketing & banquet person could be solely commission
based and that's a big game changer.
