Several years ago the wife & I travelled to Izaak Walton Inn on Amtrak's Empire Builder overnight from Seattle. When my wife booked the room, several months ahead of time, we were assured we would have a room facing the tracks. Upon arrival we found our room had been changed to the far side of the lodge to accomadiate a wedding party from Whitefish that had only booked a few weeks ahead of time. This unannounced switch, and the $10. pp sack lunches, both left a bad taste in our mouths.
Regarding Hysterical conventions, the Espee Tech Society always uses Doubletree Inns, as they are big enough to provide meeting & banquet rooms, as well as a regular bar in the lobby. The room prices are rather steep however; the last 2 years rooms were @ $129. per night !!!
