Sunday I took Highway 36 to refresh my memory about this East/West railroad dream. Unless there's a majic way around South Fork Mountain and the helter-skelter drainages of the Eel, Mad and lower trinity, they're crazy. Between Platina and Ruth Highway 36 runs between three and four thousand feet. By Mad River you are really into the "goooo." I hope 250K of Headwaters money is all they are going to waste?
