I have been asked to find some more info on the C415s that are supposed to be on the Burlington Junction. This is needed by an author to complete a book.
#701 has Hi-ad trucks and mid height cab. Built as Columbia & Cowlitz #701; to Bob Steele & Associates/Port of Tillamook Bay; used on Steele's Oregon Coastline Express(?); then to (Steele's?) Spirit of Oregon dinner train out of Roy on POTB; then to Mt. Hood RR (lease or purchase?); then to Burlington Junction #701 and possibly still in service.
#702 built as SP #2407 with "type B" trucks and tall cab. Sold by Chrome Crankshaft to Columbia & Cowlitz #702; to Bob Steele & Associates/Port of Tillamook Bay; used on Steele's Oregon Coastline Express; then to (Steele's?) Spirit of Oregon dinner train out of Roy on POTB; then to Mt. Hood RR (lease or purchase?); then to Burlington Junction #702 and possibly still in service.
#21? built as SP #2407 with "type B" trucks and tall cab. Sold by Chrome Crankshaft to Nekoosa Paper #21 in Wisconsin; donated to Mid-Continent Railway Museum; sold to Burlington Junction (#21?).
#701 and #702 are well documented (on-line video and photos) on the Burlington Junction at Burlington, Iowa. #21 might be leased to an industry and not readily visible or known. There are photos/video of a brick red xSP C415 that might be either the #21/2409 or the #702/2407.
Can anybody confirm the current status and assignment or disposition of all three of these locos?
Many thanks!
