First, I am tired, I don't feel good, and to some extent, I don't give a rat's ass what happens to the piss hole of a city called San Jose (which 3/4 of the US population can't pronounce anyway).
First, who the hell wants to go to Eastridge anyway? Aside from needing a passport, you can get landed on by an airplane or shot by some gang bangers holding their gun sideways. I haven't been even close to that dump in well over ten years and then it was for work.
Remember one of the first suggestions before the County Transit was adopted? SCAT! More appropriate than VTA and James Pott (remember him?). Ok, lets remember who promoted light rail, Mineta, Diridon, and McHenry. Mineta probably hasn't ridden anything on rails since excecutive order #9066 sent him on a long trip. Diridon is seemingly more interested in getting things named after him (and nude women following him around), and Tom McHenry (poor little rich kid from Santa Clara University) was only interested in increasing the value of family owned land downtown and, like Diridon, getting his name plastered on something.
So what have we got downtown? Snail's pace light rail running thru an area now almost devoid of historical buildings, a plaza where the old city hall was (and still should be) named some grape picker from Delano or wherever. Captain Fallon's statue virtually hidden away because he does not pass the test of political correctness. Light rail crawls thru downtown like the was some good reason (other than Original Joe's) to even go down there.
Oh yeah, once a year VTA condesends to send the ugly assed, kitbashed excuse for an Italian streetcar so we get free rides for out tax dollar.
Oh hell, I will just pet my cat and go back to sleep.
