As I Recall, the former Milwaukee right of way across the Cascades was not part of a " Rails - to - Trails " arrangement. Rather, I believe the last private owner, the BNSF, simply sold or deeded the R of W to the State of Washington Dept. of Natural Resources. Regardless, I think the price tag to rebuild the MILW line would be rather steep; the land between Selleck & Kanasket has been subdivided into "5 acre Ranch Estate " parcels. NIMBY time... Also, the former site of Cedar Falls is now a state park. Greenie time... Wow, where have I heard that before ???
