Consider that the population of California has almost doubled since 1970, and continues to grows by about half a million per year. About 50% of that is due to relocation from other states or countries. Some number of people will move out of California. These people are often better educated and financially better off than the people moving in. Some of that wealth can be attributed to real estate gains, made possible by that half million moving in and buying homes.

Yet it's simply amazing the number of people that will move out of a certain state - let's say California, and take up residence somewhere else. Isn't too long before those same folks will piss and moan about all of the Californians moving to their little corner of heaven.

If people in Montana, Nebraska and wherever else want to be po'd at somebody, they ought to look in the mirror first.

Let's face it, we're a nation of people with shallow roots, quite willing to go where work, family, retirement, or just plain desire takes us.

We've also become a nation of whiners. Always looking for somebody else to blame our problems on, be it the railroads, the government, immigrants, somebody, anybody, as long as we can absolve ourselves of any responsibility.
