The nose door on the 6936 was NOT welded shut. A new bulkhead wall was installed inside the nose, with a second door in it that opens outward. There is no visible change from the outside or to the functionality of the exterior door.

The nose doors on UP 949 and 951 were completely eliminated, and a new bulkhead wall (without any openings) was installed inside the nose. The nose compartments of E and F units are far too cramped to have installed a second door and left the exterior doors functional.
