If you look at the schedules it's very easy to see why Marin County commuters drove or rode busses on the Golden Gate Bridge after 1937. The train-ferry trip usually took over twice as long. Passengers had to change from train to ferryboat in Sausalito. Many trains met the ferryboat but if a passenger missed the ferryboat, wait was over one hour for the next NWP boat. Then if the passenger were not going to a destination a short walk from the Ferry Building, then a ride on SF Muni or Market Street Railway was required. It's no surprise that the service was abandoned in 1940 with almost no opposition.
