I didn't know about the WP move, I thought it went from McCloud to Oregon. I do remember it being hauled up I-5 through Dunsmuir on flatbed trucks, boiler seperated from the frame & wheels. This was probably late '60s & I was just a high school kid (And I did ride the Huff-n-Puff).
Nowadays, the needed boiler work would probably be considered "normal"--some things were a lot simpler than, and the locomotives were a lot younger too! (Not saying we're getting ancient. . .)
