Enough with the cherry picking. I have the stats for 2013 for all 323 full time station agents:

Number -- Salary Range
49 earned 0 to <80k This includes those who worked part of a year
31 earned 80k to <90k
73 earned 90k to <100k
82 earned 100k to <110k
62 earned 110k to <120k
17 earned 120k to <130k
6 earned 130k to <140k
1 earned 140k to <150k [The union representative]
2 earned 150k to 155,914

To give an idea of a typical agents cost to BART let us take the median salary (161 agents earned more, 161 earned less) and break it down:

$101,632 Total cost of employment
$60,466 Base salary
$2,164 Overtime
$5,374 Vacation, sick leave, comp time, bonuses
$17,157 Medical, Dental, vision plans
$7,775 Pension
$4,535 Employee contribution to pension paid by employer
$2,381 Employer match to 401(k) or equivalent
$1,779 Non-cash benefit

So it isn't the salary, it's the benefits. You can see why non-US companies have an advantage in not having to cough up the medical costs. This is probably for family benefits as there is a big jump between two levels of medical benefits when you compare different agents medical. The one thing that does stand out is the employer paying employee contribution to the pension, but that is only 4.5% of total compensation.

Now let us look at the top earner:

$155,914 Total cost of employment
$62,473 Base salary
$42,352 Overtime
$12,925 Vacation, sick leave, comp time, bonuses
$22,007 Medical, Dental, vision plans
$8,191 Pension
$4,780 Employee contribution to pension paid by employer
$2,392 Employer match to 401(k) or equivalent
$793 Non-cash benefit

It's the overtime. If the overtime was paid at time-and-a-half 31% of the hours were overtime. A real workaholic. If a standard week is 40 hours, they are working 52.5.

One of the agents is the union rep and has a base salary of $107,324. She is up there in total cost but is not at the top as she was not paid for overtime. All other agent base salaries are in the low 60k's.
